Lack of common sense – Jumbie’s First Law strikes again

Akilah Holder’s letter to the editor “No law to fix for LGBT community”, published in the Daily Express 13 Sept ’19, is so devoid of sense one can only wonder whether the author is an adult with any reasoning skills. There’s a certain irony that the author is comfortable with two opposing ideas residing simultaneously in her head – this is called doublethink and is different from cognitive dissonance.

The two opposing ideas are these: on the one hand she agrees with the Prime Minister (PM) that the LGBT people are entitled to the same protections under the law as ‘regular’ people. More on this later.

On the other hand, she welcomes the position of the ‘heads of the major religions’ who disapprove of “giving” rights to the LGBT community.

For the edification of Miss Holder and the others, no one has to “give” rights to the LGBT community. They acquired and possess all rights under the Constitution. The fact is that they are denied exercising those rights, which they already have, openly and without fear.

To return to the Prime Minister’s opinion that LGBT people have the same protections under the law, I fear I need to correct the misguided doctor. The Equal Opportunity Act (EOA) 2000 specifically omits “sexual preference or orientation” as a status. Compare this with the Constitution, the international agreements which Trinidad and Tobago have been signatories to, and various human rights instruments around the world, and you will see just how backward Trinidad and Tobago really is.

This is the reason for a judgment in favour of the LGBT community in the Jones case. Clearly, the misguided doctor failed to inform himself before speaking. I don’t know for others, but I expect the leader of any nation to be a bit more circumspect and informed before he opens his mouth.

A word of caution to Miss Holder – don’t let your militant Christianity blind you to common sense and basic reasoning skills.

Stupidity Rules

The leader of the Opposition has “called on the nation to pray for the safe return of all the missing women and girls who have been kidnapped or have disappeared from their homes, schools and communities.”

Given that there has never been evidence that prayer works, despite all of the years of praying for crime to end, in which various people connected to Gawd have tried their bit to influence His ears, and officials have joined marches and promised results years ago, and we we still await those results… all I can say is stupidity rules.

When dinosaurs rule the Rock

* Regular readers know I call Trinidad and Tobago “The Rock” because, after all, it is only a small Rock in the ocean. England, where I now live, is a slightly bigger Rock.

dinosNow when ah talkin’ bout dinosaurs, ah did really mean it in ah anachronistic sense, fuh dem people who tink I eh know dat dinosaurs dead long, long time back. I really mean de almost dead dinosaurs who callin’ the religious and cultural shots on de Rock.

We have ah few ole fogies, well beyond de age where ah ‘oman could have any interes’ for or in dem, and Viagra eh go help matters, spinnin’ stories how chile marriages should stay de way it always was and still is – dat it okay fuh hardback old men who could still use Viagra tuh marrid ah gyul chile who only 12 years old.

Now, de way I see it, I tink de UN was on de right track. Ah chile have a right tuh grow up happy, playing wid dolly or whatever else dey fancy dese days. Buh she shouldn have tuh fraid dat when night come some man pushin’ part ah he body she eh have no right tuh know about at this tender age, in some part ah she body she was taught to protect from same hardback men.

Buh de dinosaurs playing de ole blame game. One ah dem even imply dat the UN is de USA, dat de decisions made in NY and even de USA have chile marriages when dey tellin’ everybody else how tuh protect chirren. De dinosaurs brain half-dead… de cyah see dat is a separate issue, ah fallacy argument. De UN is a whole set ah countries arong de world who come to various agreements, and de majority decisions is what is accepted. Once dey make ah Treaty, and ah country sign it, den is de responsibility ah dat same country to revamp de law it have to come tuh de standard set by de Treaty. And since de Rock sign up tuh protect de rights ah de chirren, it have a duty, and I want yuh tuh watch dat word I use, ah duty tuh make chile marriages ah ting ah de past.

Allyuh see dis ting call LAW? It eh ah easy ting to understand, and de most smartest man on de street is usually ah ignoramus when it come tuh de law. Buh de ting is, if one man living alone on ah island, he eh need no law except tuh survive. Watch dat Tom Hanks’ film, “Cast Away”, tuh see wha ah talkin’ bout. Buh once anedder man or ‘oman’ set foot on dat island, de rules change. Now yuh boy on de Rock have tuh tink about how tuh geh along wid de interloper. Dey have tuh make rules about sharing – space, food, resources etc. Den dey have tuh make sure dat one man fish or fowl eh get tief by de odder. And if he get tief out, what he could do about it. One man might be a castaway, buh two go be a society forming. So dey need rules, or law tuh name it right, tuh survive and tuh protect dey own interests.

Dat is de basis ah laws. To protect and tuh allow people tuh live together in peace. Buh here is de real ting. Law arong since man learn how tuh talk and make fire, or maybe even before. Dat eh surprising. Wha’ surprising doh, is dat is only in de last 150 to 200 years, dat ting like slavery and chile marriage become taboo. Before dat, if yuh check yuh facts, yuh will see dat it was okay tuh have slaves, beat dem, rape dem, stone dem, make chile wid dem, and same fuh chile brides.

Buh humans have ah cognitive ability. Ah mean dey could tink and reason. And somewhere dong de line in recent times, some tinkers puh de idea forward dat we evolve beyond dis base and crass behaviour. So we make changes tuh society, de law and we progressing. Except for dinosaurs, who as we know, couldn’ really adapt farse enough tuh change. Dat is why we have oil. (De funny ting is dat de places wid de oil is also de places slowest tuh change).

Now, I eh go say dat de dinosaurs wasn’ useful – dat paragraph above is de show dat dey still fuellin’ we society. Buh dey dead. And so will de dinosaurs who leading de religious. Dey go dead soon too. Fuh me, it wouldn’ be soon enough, doh I eh really have dat bad mind to wish dey dead now. Let nature takes its course. Buh wha’ I worried about is de damage dey doing tuh society, and tuh de chirren by dey stubbornness and dotishness.

Secular State?

I have often read or heard in the media, comments by various people that Trinidad and Tobago is a secular state. I don’t know how or where that misconception came about as the very first paragraph of the Constitution clearly states:

Whereas the People of Trinidad and Tobago—
(a) have affirmed that the Nation of Trinidad and Tobago is founded upon principles that acknowledge the supremacy of God, faith in fundamental human rights and freedoms, the position of the family in a society of free men and free institutions, the dignity of the human person and the equal and inalienable rights with which all members of the human family are endowed by their Creator;

and the fourth:

(d) recognise that men and institutions remain free only when freedom is founded upon respect for moral and spiritual values and the rule of law;

You can read it yourself on page 27 of this link.

For more information on what morality means and its relationship to law, readers should dig into the Hart-Devlin debate. Morality is independent of both religion and culture, but in the minds of most people, morality is religion and culture.

Coming back on course, I hope that people can accept that Trinidad and Tobago is NOT a secular country and that religion is given an unproportioned weight in decision making.

When jackasses sing…

all I hear is ‘hee haw’.

This is the case with ‘Brother’ Harrypersad Maharaj, head of the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO). In saying that he (and the IRO) condones marriages of girls from ages 12 (Muslim faith) and 14 (Hindu faith), he comes across as a paedophile... which is itself both surprising and not surprising, because like a good Catholic priest takes a vow of celibacy, so has ‘Brother’ Harry, being a member of the Raja Yoga faith.

He is not alone. Sat Maharaj of the Sanatan Dharam Maha Sabha (SDMS) has also given the green light, under the enlightened wisdom of the ages where ‘evidence’ of arranged child marriages ‘worked’ as there were no divorces, despite husbands beating their underage wives like lathi* beat rice. I suppose sometimes they even used said lathis. Incidents of paedophilia are not unknown, in fact are quite rampant in the Caribbean and Trinidad and Tobago in particular.

Others have adequately dealt with the braying jackasses, but I wish to offer another view.

As activist and women’s rights champion Verna St Rose-greaves quite rightly pointed out, Trinidad and Tobago is signatory to several International Treaties including the Convention for the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women. These directly contradict the laws of TnT on child marriages.

There are those who will argue that local law (statute) trumps treaties. Nothing is further from the truth. The moment TnT became a signatory to these treaties, that meant that the country agreed to update its domestic laws to meet the requirements of the treaties. In other words, Trinidad and Tobago placed itself in the position of having to take positive steps to meet the requirements and honour the rights of women and children.

Failure to do so can be challenged in court, by any one of those child brides. And I shudder to think of the compensation avalanche to follow.

A spiral of hate and violence

Bloodbath in Paris screams the headline this morning. “150 killed as jihadist gunmen blow themselves up at concert and Kalashnikov-wielding terrorist opens fire in restaurant. Suicide bombers detonate near Stade de France.”

Terrorists launched a total of six coordinated attacks at high profile sites across Paris:

  • Two suicide bomb attacks at a bar near the Stade de France led to President Hollande being evacuated from the stadium. He has since declared a national state of emergency.
  • Two terrorists with AK47s burst into the Bataclan concert hall, where rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing. They sprayed bullets and threw grenades into thousands of people before they started slaughtering people one by one.
  • A terrorist armed with an AK47 killed at least 11 people at Cambodian restaurant Le Petit Cambodge on Rue Bichat at around 9pm.
  • Gunfire and bomb blasts have also been reported at the Louvre art gallery, the Pompidou Centre and Les Halles shopping centre.

France has a long history of intolerance toward the extremes of Islam. It has (rightly) banned face coverings, and has cracked down on those who would push the boundaries of communal harmony.

By having these terrorists attacking the city of Paris, far from making a point, I suspect that France will now become even more intolerant, and all Muslims will be viewed and treated as being a (potential) terrorist. The spiral of mistrust has begun. Do I find that unfair? Not at all!

You see, the terrorists who commit these acts are usually citizens of the targeted state. They have been bred into a society that is far more tolerant than the ones they support. And it is that very tolerance and freedoms which give them the opportunity to be groomed.

I often find it amusing when Muslims protests in England. You see, it is the very freedoms and liberties of their rights that allow them to protest against the freedom and rights they enjoy. The irony escapes them, of course. Were they to protest in a Sharia state, they'd be dragged out to a public square and dealt with in the same manner they support.

My condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. I hope you come to terms with this tragedy and somehow find some peace.

Masquerade

I have broken my enforced silence (enforced by myself) to comment on this letter published in the Newsday.

THE EDITOR: I congratulate the Police Service on the recent arrests. We know the list of cases is long and challenging. Let them be encouraged.

They will have some comfort in the fact that the Government has allocated the largest portion in the 2015-2016 Budget to the Ministry of National Security.

The police now have more money to better finance their crime-fighting efforts.

They can now spend more time in detection and apprehension leading to conviction.

Consequently, we expect the number of arrests to increase.

But the people of TT must realise the police can’t do it alone, and give support. As in the Garden of Eden, it doesn’t matter who picked or ate the apple, but the consequence is that the human race is paying the price for the infraction.

We all share the burden, the consequences of crime. There are no unaffected bystanders here.

I am convinced that most of our law enforcement personnel are conscientious and dedicated, but their performance has been negatively affected by a few “maladies”, some not of their own making.

These issues have contributed in part to the low number of arrests in recent years.

One such condition is the “shortened arm of the law” syndrome that affects officers.

Too many perpetrators have escaped because the long arm of the law was unable to grab hold of them.

I expect that the increased allocation of funds will address this shortcoming.

Another issue is an apparent vision problem.

This relates to the process of detection.

This has been a concern for many years.

Even looking at it from a Canadian viewpoint has not cleared up the problem.

It remains a serious challenge. But I can see a change coming in the number of arrests that will be made.

In the past, the work of the police was blind-sided when the intelligence unit, SAUTT , was disbanded.

It is now history that there was further shortsightedness due to the delaying of the acquisition of vessels (OPVs) to assist in surveillance of the shady coastline of the Gulf of Paria.

It is crystal clear that one can’t achieve good conviction if you can’t have good detection.

But with improved resources the number of arrests is sure to increase.

Then there were the psychologically depressing experiences of not being able to catch “big fish” criminals; with so many legal loopholes in the net, even the small fry got away.

The fishing season was out for the last five years. But now we are anticipating a turning of the tide and opportunities for the law enforcers to apprehend some big fish in their dragnet. We expect a good haul to take to the courts.

It’s stressful for our cops to stand by and see people looting our coffers, while their hands are tied by “outof- time” procedures and their vision obscured due to inadequate resources.

We want to admonish the hardworking police officers not to take “ah rest” but to do their best to make arrests.

Also, if the police arm is too short they need to be reminded of the scripture, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear” (Isaiah 59:1).

And on the vision issue, “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cries, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil” (Ps 34:15).

So, we must now lodge an appeal to the highest order. We need divine intervention and the corporate action to complement it.

Mr Commissioner, we have to pray.

Our policemen should not raise their hands in despair, but raise their hands in prayer. Today they need to pray to hear what God is saying to resolve this matter.

It’s time for us to turn to the spirituality factor.

Let’s establish a prayer programme in the Police Service, with chaplains and prayer sessions. That is long overdue. So while our police dutifully look into prevention measures and solving all the red, black or white-collar crimes, they need to remember to look up to God. Let’s pray to reduce this scourge of crime on our land. It’s time to arrest crime.

Apostle Terrence Honore Palmiste, San Fernando

More of the same rubbish I have commented on so many times before. As I pointed out before:

According to one study published in the Journal of Religion and Society, a US academic journal, reports: “Many Americans agree that their churchgoing nation is an exceptional, God-blessed, shining city on the hill that stands as an impressive example for an increasingly sceptical world.

“In general, higher rates of belief in and worship of a creator correlate with higher rates of homicide, juvenile and early adult mortality, STD infection rates, teen pregnancy and abortion in the prosperous democracies.

“The United States is almost always the most dysfunctional of the developing democracies, sometimes spectacularly so.”

France, Japan and the Scandinavian countries had been the most successful in reducing murder rates, early mortality, sexually transmitted diseases and abortion.

The conclusion?:

“The non-religious, proevolution democracies contradict the dictum that a society cannot enjoy good conditions unless most citizens ardently believe in a moral creator.

“The widely held fear that a Godless citizenry must experience societal disaster is therefore refuted.”

I wonder how so many lunatics masquerading as sane people go undetected?

Jumbie’s First Law strikes Again!!

Joint Trade Union Movement leader Ancel Roget yesterday also told the Express that a national day of prayer and fast is scheduled for March 27 at the Brian Lara Promenade, Port of Spain, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be done for the state of the country the high levels of corruption,  bad governance and the state of wage negotiations, he said.

When I read the above, I almost bawl like 40 Tarzans. Almost, but not quite.

Yuh see, Trinibagonians have been praying for XYZ for long, long time. Dey pray for everything. Dey pray for rain, dey pray for sun. Dey pray West Indies tuh win in de cricket, dey pray de Govament lose election, dey pray dey party win election, dey pray for more money, dey pray to win de lotto, dey pray de chile pass SEA, dey pray de chile win scholarship, dey pray de neighbour have mo’ bad luck than dem… yuh know, prayers fuh every hill and mountain life throws at dem…

As I said before:

Allyuh praying for decades, day in, day out, night time too. Allyuh praying while getting kidnapped, robbed, beaten, chopped, raped, murdered in all kinda styles and fashion, and crime still going up... but allyuh still seeing that as the solution to crime?!

Allyuh praying before and after too. Allyuh praying at funerals, in churches, mosques, gurdwaras, in taxis, by de roadside, in canefields, ricefields, lagoon, city, streets, allyuh wearing white and lying on de road, allyuh meeting by people house to pray...

I cyah even remember the many ways allyuh praying... and so far I see no evidence even 1 prayer, whether from child, woman, man, sadhu, priest, imam, rabbi, teacher, police, minister,.... worked.

NOT ONE!!

I know, Jumbie’s First Law, ent? But I eh have no Holy Aloes tuh pray to anymore. So I guess people go jess remain dotish till dey dead.

I well understand some ah allyuh so weak-minded that allyuh cyah function unless allyuh believe some higher power watching over allyuh and taking de flak for de shit allyuh does do and then beg 'forgiveness'. But trust meh on this one - no bad luck go come to yuh... GOD too busy listening to Pa-trick, Pastor Cuffie, Sat Maharaj and benny Hinn dem to take yuh seriously. If you ent believe meh, examine when last you had a prayer come true.

As far as dotishness go, prayer hard to beat…

If Gord cyah save yuh…

… who can?!

This news article had me baffled.

A small plane that crashed on approach to the island of Grand Bahama killed all 9 people on board, including a prominent Christian minister and his wife, the government of the Bahamas said.

Among those killed was Myles Munroe, the founder of Bahamas Faith Ministries, who was traveling to Grand Bahama to attend the 2014 Global Leadership Forum, Prime Minister Perry Christie said.

My confusion is from a conflict in my conscious thoughts.

  • Was Gord so uncaring he took “indisputably one of the most globally recognizable religious figures our nation has ever produced” as well as another and a child too (aren’t they supposed to be innocent, after all?) without so much as a fare-thee-well?
  • Or was Gord so caring he ‘called them to him’ before the rest of the planet was ready for them to go?

Either way, you see my dilemma. Gord either didn’t care for the ‘prominent minister’ or he didn’t care for their relatives and friends.

So, is either Gord playing with we like… well, a Gord nuh, or we jess too insignificant to bother about. Which makes me wonder why the human race spends so much time and energy praying, wailing, gnashing teeth etc as it clearly has no bearing on the final outcome.

Who is malala?

She is the 16 year daughter of a BBC reporter in Pakistan – now working in the UK. Her dream was to become a doctor. Her life almost came to an abrupt end.

Malala was targeted and shot in Malala-Yousafzaithe head in Parkistan by the Taleban on 9th October 2012 (one year ago) for promoting education of girls in the Swat valley in Pakistan. Strenuous international cooperation allowed for her to be  taken to Birmingham's Children’s Hospital where she was saved from near death.  By an amazing set of coincidences and luck – the hand of god if you wish – Malala survived, was awarded the Harvard Humanitarian of the Year Award, and was tipped to be shortlisted for the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Dr Fiona Reynolds of Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital, was in Pakistan at the time audible_malalaadvising on transplant surgery, when she  picked up on Sky News that Malala was shot and was at death’s door. Pakistani officials asked for Dr Reyolds’ assistance. That set a chain of events in motion that led to Malala arriving in Birmingham for expert care. [Birmingham is where the Jumbie lives – that’s no secret].

Malala’s story is about luck, defying the odds and steely determination. She is an international icon that is still the target of the Taleban. Please hear/read Malala’s story in her book ‘I am Malala’ available at Audible and at Amazon Bookshop.

Malala had been politically active from 2009 and had been writing under a pseudonym as a blogger for the BBC.

Having been extremely lucky to have survived, Adnan Rasheed, a Taleban commander wrote to Malala to explain,  "Taliban believe that you were intentionally writing against them and running a smearing campaign to malign their efforts to establish Islamic system in Swat and your writings were provocative." At the end of the 4-page letter appears the words “All praises to Allah the creator of the Universe.”

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, announced in December 2012 that a $10 million education fund in Malala’s name would be set up.

Malala is thought to be eligible for permanent residence in the UK. I dare say she is a National Treasure and should share dual citizenship of the UK and Pakistan, by special arrangement if necessary.

What ever you do today, give time to this story and Malala’s work. It’s bigger than us. This is world-changing and life-changing.

The Captain upsets Gord again!

Gord has inspired those at TT Express to remove the following comment I posted on this article: A T&T theocracy. But I can assure you that the Devil rules this website – and Gord better doh come no whey near dis site – oddawise is akshaaan!! [At 15:27 GMT the post below is not there i.e. was there and has been removed].

“The influence of God has been responsible for slavery and the decimation of North and South American populations in the 300 hundred years following the arrival of Columbus. I can infer that this is true because it was clear that a Christian God is what factually in sociological studies allowed slavery and 'conversion by force' to continue for as long as it did. I can assert with much certainty that God did not lift a finger to end slavery. Or if he inspired Wilberforce and others, he certainly took his merry time in doing so.

If I am not correct above then it was the work of the 'devil'. Those who killed and threatened people in the process of 'converting' them, were imposters - the clergy included.

God has also stood by idly and watched upon a global phenomenon where it is factually the case - especially among the Catholic in Ireland, America and parts of Europe. Where is God when all this abuse is taking place? Or is it all lies? Are gum-bumping rock-crawlers gonna jess assert that the US, UK and other courts are all telling lies and working for the devil? Come nah man! Allyuh making fun.

God becomes at very best a co-conspirator, in all this because I'm told by several 'high up' Christians dat eef Gord wasn't there t'ings would be much worse! Oho so dat means dat eef Gord wasn't wraslin' (aka wrestling) wid dee devil to stop all dee wrongdoing (and doing such a poor job) , den there would be more sex abuse, rapes, murders or wha'ever. Errh.. hello.. what does omnipotence and omniscience mean? Oh a forget.. once we approach deese issues we have tuh forget dem and apply no logic at all. Gord doesn't want logic to be applied to his workings I've been told by many devout believers in Gord.

Gord and the Religions related to Gords have inspired serious atrocities. Wars and battles are fought in the name of Gord.. and people go into battle mouthing the name of Gord. Gord must be one chupid idiot - to take sides in a horrific thing such as war.

Well I held Gord tuh account! ( at bit.ly/ZAgK1F for those who can figure how to use dat). God doh fool arong wid me! I does tell him/her like it is.”

But importantly Gord has allowed me freedom of expression – a gift not given to TT Express forums. I jess cyah figure dis ting out – ah mean why Gord so curry favour. Oh jeezanages.. somebody goin’ tell meh tuh behave mehself, how i’s not Gord tuh blame but dee ppl at TT Express. Well either way I blaming Gord! Why? I say Gord should defend my freedom of speech in every place. But den again, I cyah trust Gord nuh – s/he sometime-ish man! Yeah…yeah.. save your insults, warnings and expressions of what you ‘hope’ etc.  Yes – and I know you and Gord don’t like words like “gum-bumping rock crawlers” – tough!

Note carefully though that Gord-believers are allowed to rubbish non-Gord-believers.. but it doh work dee odda way around.  So says Gord!

12,000 IDIOTS!

I am distracted this morning by a significant sign of monumental idiocy! Yes - there are more important things in the world - some of them also idiotic like North Korea threatening a nuclear strike - but this one where 12,000 people gather to hear a charlatan, really snatches attention away from everything else. See Angry Benny Hinn blasts photographers (TT Express 2013-04-14). Oh and you must see the short video below, which is unrelated except that it refers to a messianic Patrick Manning and his see-ah woman, on your fav Rock/heap.

The TT Express reported that, a 69 year old man who was suffering with prostate cancer, whose condition was not treatable was “whisked to the front line by a relative”. Unfortunately we aren’t told whether this incurable cancer was cured by the power that works through Hinn! Shame on the TT Express! After all Hinn could just make a whistle stop tour of the Nation’s hospitals and empty them in a fortnight - and I’m sure the Gov’t of your fav Rock/heap would donate generously to his Almighty’s mission.

If you look at nothing else, see here http://youtu.be/wioTQQw0edw?t=4m where Hinn says that in effect he is not to be held accountable for healings that weren’t healings because he is not the healer. Errh.. um.. so how does anybody hold to account ‘the real healer’? Not possible? Sure.. some tell me that God cannot be held to account. I disagree. I’ve held God to account before. I’ve since been told that there is a specially reserved cell in Hell with my name written above it. I dare say Hell doesn’t know what hell is coming to them! They may well find out down there! It’ll never be the same.

But hold on, don’t be too distracted by a ‘Bat rocketing into hell’! These people on your fav Rock/heap were encouraged to part with up to $USD 100 per head. Whilst I have no access to the exact figures, assuming each gave $USD 25 (equivalent to $TT 150), that could mean that Hinn collected 12,000 x $USD 25 = $USD 300,000!! Not a bad or unreasonable lower estimate, considering that more donations would have poured in from equally idiotic non-attenders (for two days work).

I really cannot go into it - proving how monumentally idiotic 12,000 people are. All I can say is that they are collectively idiotic to the tune of $USD 300,000 - and I think that’s a whole pile of idiocy gathered right there.

Oh - some of you may be wondering what’s the picture of the semi-nude female above with the jugs hanging out, about. That’s just another sign of collective idiocy. But that’s for another blog. Stay tuned. ;)

Let us pray

Kevin Baldeosingh – a ‘confessed’ atheist – has taken the bold step of writing some prayers for Rock-crawlers. I thought they were so good, that I had to put them up. Now please pray as follows:

Pray for floods

Almighty God, mayst Thou flood my house and drown my car as Thou pleaseth, that we be reminded of the Original Sin which wiped all humanity from the Earth save Noah and his Ark and two of every creature, including mosquitoes. Elevate to the Works Ministry, oh God, men who will explain all disasters as an Act of You. Let not construction companies build proper drainage, nor citizens stop littering, nor Local Government councillors work for a living. In this way shall we experience trials and tribulations, oh Lord, that we might grow closer to Thee by mopping mud from our living rooms.

Pray for traffic accidents

Oh God, please ensure that traffic accidents happen, so that those who do not die but are only maimed may thank Thee for sparing their lives, while those who are killed would serve as a warning to others about the sins of strong drink, late liming, and defective tyres. For every fatality, oh God, a pastor or pundit or imam gets paid to put the fear of Thee into mourners, proving that those who are killed in accidents have not died senselessly but are fulfilling Thy divine purpose.

Pray for murderers

Most blessed God, we accept that Thou hath sent murderers onto us, that we shall not take the precious gift of life for granted, that we shall beat our children so they shall not become killers, and hang those who do become killers in order to show that killing is wrong, as stateth in Thy words, unless of course we are killing the infidels as also stated in Thy words.

Pray for politicians

Thank you, oh Lord, for giving us leaders who are venal, incompetent, and corrupt, that we shall never have faith in the laws of man but only in Thy divine laws. Let us not become like those nations with low crime and high prosperity, whose people go not to church save for weddings, funerals, and bazaars. We pray that our political leaders who proclaim their faith shall never be criticised by the IRO, because religious leaders also have to eat ah food.

Pray for atheists

Divine Father, we pray that Kevin Baldeosingh shall continue to demonstrate how rationality influences nobody important, so that our faith may continue to get us invited to official functions with jumbo shrimp.

May the Lord be with you and also with you. Hallelujah – or amen or whatever. Winking smile

Ready to dead now

Right! I make no apologies for this blog:

What dee Fucccck?!

That was my initial, jaw-dropping thought/action when I read this morning’s Express headline:

'Week of prayer to help fight crime'

A WEEK [sic] of prayer has been declared as part of the arsenal to help this country deal with crime.

The decision was taken following a meeting yesterday between National Security Minister Jack Warner, heads of security divisions and heads of religious organisations at the Ministry's Temple Court office in Port of Spain.

A whole fucking week (that’s why Express reporter Anna Ramdass has it in capitals – she must be as stunned as I am) of prayers, called by minister Jackass Warn(ingy)er.

Yes, the long awaited (2 years) PP crime plan is… a whole fucking week of prayers. And hear this hairy cacahole:

"I am sure with the positive thoughts and vibrations of prayer of everyone, we can certainly do something positive for our nation as we celebrate our 50th anniversary," said [president of the Inter-Religious Organisation Harrypersad] Maharaj.

Allyuh praying for decades, day in, day out, night time too. Allyuh praying while getting kidnapped, robbed, beaten, chopped, raped, murdered in all kinda styles and fashion, and crime still going up... but allyuh still seeing that as the solution to crime?!

I think I could dead now... I have finally seen everything life have to offer. Nothing could beat back this.

Gawd helping Rock Crawlers

On this article, some bright spark wrote:

And so it continues without fail. But doh worry according to our nations wise and caring politicians serious crime down. Only prayers can help us.

Prayers will help?

How to be intellectually superior

This is a photo currently circulating on Facebook.

One person said, “The picture speaks of pure intelligence in a nutshell!! ♥

If you ever get your motives questioned...go back to basics of how we actually came into being and evolved, whether we were children of Adam or came from a tadpole. How we are now we got to be better than we were! And, if we are not then we ain’t progressing!

Just like progression cannot be attained from regression, nor can we attain civilization from devaluation of other human beings simply on our views of their appearances.”

Okay, maybe I’m alone here, but… if that is a logical answer, doesn’t it stand then that women who cover up (more and more) would then be intellectually superior? I mean, all women in Burquas, bilbabs, etc should be in Mensa!

*Shaking my head in disbelief.*
