I read a lot. Even as a child, my teachers/parents had a hard time getting me to go outside to play, when I preferred to be in a book.
I used to stop off in Siparia nearly every evening at Diptee's Bookstore (don't know if it is still open) and buy novels, comics etc. I confess, I had a weakness for books and fountain pens (still do), and spent all my pocket change on these.
I bought comics at the grand price of 25c each, and some 'digest' editions at 65c. Ah, those were the days. I was shocked when I saw a Marvel comic (X-men I think) for £5 recently. It was indeed traumatic to realise I can't afford to read them as frequently. Not a big loss, story lines have changed and become weird to say the least.
Smallville:
After growing up on Superman comics, I am particularly annoyed at the Smallville producers. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the show, and I am impressed with the way they handle Clark Kent growing up and being subtly influenced by the people around him into becoming the Superman I know from the comics.
What ticks me off is Kristin Kreuk/Lana Lang. They keep forcing story lines on her (to please her fan base?) when clearly she ought to be written out of the show. Bring on Lois Lane! Kristin seems to have 2 expressions: crying, and stupefied disbelief that doubles for everything else. Ugh!
Eragon:

Eragon:
I read the 2 books by Christopher Paolini and if you do not know who he is, I'll tell you. He wrote the books Eragon, and the successor Eldest. Remember the movie Eragon with that dragon? Yep, that's the one. The third book is due in 2008.
Get this: Christopher Paolini was 15 years old when he began to write Eragon, and he will be 24 in November this year. Incredible achievement.
I have to say, if you have seen the movie and not read the book, you are missing out big time. The movie was crap compared to the book, I couldn't believe a great story could be so horribly ruined. Have a read.
Harry Potter:
I bought my advance copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows since the end of January. I can't wait to read it. Sigh. There are some incredibly good fan fiction out there though, and you might be fooled into thinking that it is original JK Rowling offerings.
Anyway, time I returned to my reading.
