I read the Trinidad and Tobago newspapers online daily, and each day I see more and more atrocious behaviour, not only from the 'man in the street', but also from those in authority, those who should be leading by example. It set me wondering: Why are more people not complaining or protesting? Abraham Lincoln said:
"The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
When you think about it, how many of us are waiting for better men to exert themselves on our behalf? And if we all look to others, then where would the better men come from? How would we recognise them from amongst those we know, those who lead us, those who seek to lead us in future?
It's questions upon which the answers I await, but in the meantime, I am waiting to exhale.
