Familiar examples:

Unfamiliar collection of similes I encountered:
- as baffled as Adam and Eve on Mother's Day
- as bald as a baboon's arse
- noisy like a skeleton on a tin roof
- as old as the Dead Sea when it was only ill
- as premenstrual as a tampon with a lit fuse
- rare like rocking-horse shit
- as tight as a camel's arse in a sandstorm
- as useful as a grave robber in a crematorium
- as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit
- as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I kid you not, I have met these.
