Writers block still. I have no idea what to write. My creative instinct might be dying. Last night I found it hard to get a story for my daughter. That's a nightly ritual that I have never failed in nearly 9 years, so how come the well is running dry? Couldn't even think of a story of her favourite, Comet the Magic Rocking Horse. Yikes, old age catching up for sure now. Maybe the ol' greys need some ginkgo.
Putting together random thoughts is hard work. Who knew random thoughts aren't exactly random?
I am disappointed to learn that one of my favourite free software, Online Radio Tuner has gone commercial. It plays free online radio stations and allows you to record directly to MP3 format, something WinAmp can't do. I still have my old free version burnt to CD, so even if I have to reinstall it, I can load it from my archives.
I was also put out many years ago when the excellent InoculateIt Antivirus went commercial too. Thank goodness the free AVG is still about.
I mentioned on a couple of other blogs I have tonnes of software to give away. No one wants free stuff? Heck, I'll charge if it makes people feel better. Send me your address and £5 for a DVD of great free stuff.
I've beeen experimenting with making 6 channel DTS audio CDs. Project is coming along well so far, but I think I might have to invest in new audio equipment to support playback. You haven't listened to music till you experience this.
Speaking of music, I recently discovered Brian Silas. Listening to this CD is like floating on the clouds. Still like Richard Clayderman though, and James Last. Anyone remember David Foster? The good days of music seem to be gone. Saving grace is still A.R. Rahman.
Saw Bridge to Terabithia. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it. Excellent story for pre-teen kids I think.
My soon-to-be-2-years-old nephew is here. Have to sit through endless repeated (DVD) loops of Sesame Street and Barney and Cars (Vroom Vroom to him). So sad Sesame Street went so commercial. Whatever happened to the good old days of Gordon, Susan, Bob, Oscar, Telly, Cookie, Grover, Ernie & Bert, etc? I still remember when Big Bird was the only one who knew about Snuffy.
I have the original Fraggle Rock Beginnings movie too. Ah, when kids shows were kids shows, eh.
Since this is random thoughts, I'll mention here I met the most hypocritical family in the world - ever! Have I got ill luck or what??
On the other hand, a friend I met 17 years ago recently said hello, both via email as well as a phone call. To be sure, she forgets me sometimes, but its still nice to know she remembers me too. And yes, she is still a rather cool person.
Recently had a friend procure for me a copy of Backfire and Act of God, compiled by Undine Guiseppi. Returning to my high school days so to speak. I miss Samuel Selvon though. Who could forget The Lonely Londoners? Also got my copy of Naps Girls Cookbook, 2nd Ed. Cheaper for a Trini relative to buy it in Trinidad and mail it to you instead of buying online.
Time to go make breakfast. Maybe the cookbook will be handy.
