For the first time, I watched the news on Trinidad Express TV; and not for the first time I find myself thinking how awful Trinidadians speak.
The newer generation has terrible syntax, bad grammar, and the imitable manner of a simian when it comes to fake American accents.
Not to mention how it grates terribly upon the ear. In all fairness though, I personally find the American drawl even worse, and having heard a Trini friend speak with that disgusting rolling R... yikes! I tend not to call former friends any more...
What is it with Trinidadians and the need to adopt poor American habits?
Sigh... listening to them is like having something stuck in my teeth... there is a need to keep picking at it till it gets out.
