"This stinking world where a man spent 10 years raping me; another man spent a few days investigating it; and another man a few hours reading about it and a few minutes telling me: 'No - you cannot have what you want."
"This has killed me."
This was written in a journal by a woman who claims she was raped. I am not concerned about whether or not she was; that is not relevant to the point I want to make.
Two things struck me about her statement.
- This was men and their common attitude towards rape that she dealt with.
- The way she put the value of time to each action; greatly weighted; and common to cases such as these.
Sometimes, I am ashamed to be a man.
