Twisting the law

The government has, in the past, done some slippery acrobatics with the law to accomplish its own agenda. Monteil and Brian Manning comes to mind, as does Lee Sing and his radio licence.

In keeping with his eel-like flexibility, Pa-trick now refuses to divulge the earnings of Douglas Mendes SC, from his state contracts. What those earnings are, paid from the public funds naturally, will remain hidden - unless people protest of course. That seems to be the action that makes Pa-trick backtrack.

On the face of it, Douglas' right to privacy may seem to be a good reason in not providing this information; but Dana Seetahal et all has had their earnings aired. Why then the secrecy of Douglas'?

I can't help but think there is more in the mortar than the pestle here.
