Universal rights - fact or fiction?

Has anyone ever read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted and ratified worldwide in 1948? In case you are wondering, Trinidad and Tobago is a member of the UN and has ratified the declaration.

The reason I brought this up is because I see that at least 20 of the 30 articles of human rights are regularly broken by agents of the state! If you doubt me, I suggest you read the declaration carefully. And then notice how the government, through its agents, have literally forsaken this agreement.
