Can you steal a beach?

I found this story on the BBC website this morning. It seems a beach in Jamaica was stolen.

Questions are being asked in Jamaica about a police investigation into the theft of hundreds of tons of sand from a beach on the island's north coast.

It was discovered in July that 500 truck-loads had been removed outside a planned resort at Coral Spring beach.

500 truckloads gone without anyone seeing or hearing anything? Damn, people in Jamaica must be more blind, more deaf, and more dumb than Trinidadians.

At least in Trinidad we know who does the illegal quarrying - from duncey police to state terrorists. Never mind we can't prosecute them. In this regards the Jamaicans seem to have the upper hand; they do seem eager to prosecute.
