Faking it

Have you heard the name Ali Kordan?

Ali Kordan was the Iranian interior minister, a post that oversees several aspects of national security. In other words, a very important post.

Mr Kordan is no longer the minister. Why? Well, it seems he presented a degree after being questioned as to his qualifications to hold the post. The degree was from Oxford University. Well, at least it was supposed to be from Oxford University.

Only one problem. The degree was never issued by Oxford. It was fake all the way through, replete with some awful grammatical (typos?) mistakes that make me cringe. I cringe as well for the shame this man might be feeling now, having been outed as a liar of the first order - like Pa-trick.

ACCORDING TO THE SUGGESTION AND THE ATTESTATION OF PROFESSOR BRYANT A FACULTY OF THE COLLEGE OF LAW OF OXFORD UNIVERSITY,WE THE UNDERSIGNED,UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS OF THE SAID UNIVERSITY DO HEREBY

INTITLE

MR ALI KORDAN

WHO HAS SHOWN A GREAT EFFORT IN PREPARING EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND HIS RESEARCH IN THE DOMAIN OF COMPARATIVE LAW,THAT HAS OPENED A NEW CHAPTER,NOT ONLY FOR OUR UNIVERSITY,BUT , TO OUR KNOWLEDGE,IN THIS COUNTRY AN HONORARY DOCTORATE OF LAW IN ORDER TO BE BENEFITTED FROM IT'S SCIENTIFIC PRIVILEGES.

The underlined sections point out some of the more obvious errors.

This situation reminds me of 'Pastor' Winston Cuffie, who also bought a PhD off the Internet some years ago from a non-existent 'university'.

By the way, said fake PhD holder is still calling himself 'Dr Cuffie' as can be seen on his church's website and on his daughter's website. And his additional qualifications of Doctor of Ministry and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Development at Friends International Christian University in California, USA seems to be as dubious as the university itself. The 'university' actually publishes that it is not recognised by the US Secretary of Education.

FICU IS NOT ACCREDITED BY AN ACCREDITING AGENCY RECOGNIZED BY THE UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF EDUCATION.

Why is it that universities offering degrees for 'Lifetime Learning Assessment' coincidentally only offers it to those who make lifetime careers of lying, cheating, and other un-Christian-like behaviour?
