FORMER assistant commissioner of Police, Rodwell Murray, was found dead inside an hourly-rented hotel room on Tuesday night.
Murray, 72, was found on the floor of one of the rented rooms at Mariana's Hotel in Petit Bourg around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police officers went to the hotel after a frantic phone call was received from a 49-year-old female, who was sharing the room with Murray.
When officers arrived at the scene, Murray was discovered dressed only in a vest lying dead on the hotel room's floor. Murray allegedly took three tablets of the erectile dysfunction drug, Cialis, before he died, his female friend told investigating officers on Tuesday night.
Now, I am not a medical doctor, but I do read online and in medical articles about medicine. That, I hasten to say, does not make me an expert, just maybe a little more knowledgeable than some. Maybe.
But, I guess that 3 tablets of Cialis would be too much. Which would make the man either very dumb (not impossible considering he has been a duncey for most of his life), or under the misconception that more is better… therefore indicating (at least to me) that the upstairs was just as in need of treatment as the downstairs.
The recommended Cialis starting dose for most men is 10 mg, taken as needed before sexual activity (but not more than once daily). The dose may be increased to 20 mg or decreased to 5mg, per its efficacy and the man's personal tolerance of the drug. To avoid the inconvenience of a man having to program and plan using Cialis around the time of his anticipated sexual activity, Lilly ICOS began a clinical development program to evaluate the risks and benefits of chronic, once-daily use of the drug. In June 2007, the European Commission approved low-dose (2.5 mg and 5 mg) Cialis to be used as single-daily ED therapy.
Cialis tablets come in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg doses.
Now, I am not saying that he did… but look at the dosages the tablets come in. Here we can see a possible dose of 60 mg taken by Murray, when the recommended starting dose is a mere 10 mg. A possible 6 times higher dosage.
Men may feel uncomfortable discussing the need for enhancer drugs with their doctors, but considering – as shown in this story – that your very life may be at stake, isn’t it worth a slight embarrassment to have that little talk?
