A few weeks ago, I took my sister's son (he's nearly 2) and my daughter for a walk along the canal near my home one Sunday evening.
After showing Aidan (I call him Robin) the canal boats I told him the next day I would take him for a ride in one (Birmingham has boats that give short rides around the canals). Then I remembered Arianna would be in school, so our conversation went as follows:
Me: "Ooops, Punks, you will be in school, so you will miss out."
Ari: "Well, you could wait until weekend."
Me: "Nah, I want to take him tomorrow, you will have to miss it."
Ari: "Hello! I am your daughter!"
Me: "So?"
Ari: "You can't take him and not me. He is only your nephew, I am your daughter. I am more graduated than he is!"
When did she get to be so smart?
