For the past several days, rainfall in the UK has been more than normal. According to the BBC website, some parts of the country experienced more rainfall in the past 24 hours than they did in any normal month. The result - severe flooding.
Even my neighbour next door has about 8 inches of water in his cellar (which means mine probably has too but since it's sealed off...); and we live at the top of a hill. The reason is that the cellars are scooped out of the ground and a house is built on top of the hole (formerly used to store coal). Last night he explained his brother's house was flooded, and helpless as the poor bloke is, he could only sit and cry as his possesions became ruined.
No matter how much we try to fight her, nature always has a way of showing us her true power. And it is in times like these I realise what a small speck I am in the scheme of things, and how insignificant my woes are in the face of others'.
But if the rainfall continues, I will need lumber for my ark, and supplies to keep me going. I wonder, did Noah have 'medicinal' brandy and chicks?
