'Massa' still here

Rickey Singh in his column in the Daily Express has clearly shown his disfavour of Trinidad and Tobago hiring foreigners to fill the two top spots in the police service.

On the other hand, to do so might actually be the best thing for the country at this point.

Thinking negatively that to invite foreigners is to invite 'Massa' back, Singh fails to see that the local 'black' boys are more ''massa' than the white man ever was. Not only do we see daily reports of their duncey attitude, we see the abuse their tiny little minds dream up when a modicum of authority is vested in them. 'Massa' still here, Singh, only the skin colour changed; maybe it's the reason you fail to recognise them.

Having a foreigner might also be best for the reason that no one trusts the local police force anymore. Public perception may be a bit warped as to the amount of corrupt dunceys that took root in the police service, but since no one is doing anything about the said corrupt dunceys, the figures will rise, and we still don't know who we can obtain a fair deal from. At grassroots level, comments range from the unsavoury to the unprintable when it comes to reactions on our duncey headed flatfoots. Having an outsider might actually begin to bring some trust, some decency back into a thoroughly disreputable organisation.

I can only hope they don't take too long to invite 'Massa' back.
