A 'bright' bedpan

Being a former public servant, and having been (in)adequately represented by the PSA, I sometimes hate to point out the flaws in their arguments. Thank God PSA has lawyers because such drivel that comes out of the mouths of the officials might well be laughed out of the courts.

Jennifer Baptiste-Primus displays the intelligence of a bedpan. A full one.

At a news conference to speak about the 2 nursing staff who were fired for burning a baby with a hot water bottle, she said:
  • The Registered Nurse graduated in 2005 and had two years of work experience which did not comprise neonatology.
  • The Enrolled Nursing Assistant had six years experience in general practice which excluded neonatology.
Umm, I have news for you Jennifer. If they were working in neonatology, then all the previous times they were rostered to work... that counts as experience. To say that they had no work experience is plainly incorrect. And having worked in hospitals myself, I have never met a situation where a completely inexperienced nurse is left in charge, especially at night. Nope, more senior nurses are ALWAYS rostered. Funny thing, seniority. I have heard nurses argue over who should be in charge because one felt she had more 'seniority' over the other. So it is highly unlikely as well the other nurses would give in to this.
  • More nurses are rostered in the day, while a few at night.
Obviously. At night the patients are asleep and there are no visitors ergo the nurses have less to deal with.
  • Cleaning was done during specified hours—the registered nurse rostered on April 17 spent one hour mopping up spilt hot water while the other two on duty tended to three critical and four distressed babies.
This one so stupid I feeling stupid to answer it. But here goes.

Jennifer, why did the nurse not let the assistant mop the water and the more qualified and experienced nurse see to the babies? Stupidity was in charge?

One hour to mop hot water? How much hot water fall down? A pipe burst? Look, if you have to lie to make your clients' case, please, try to make it a believable lie, nah. I mean, not everyone stupid like you to believe what you shovelling.

Sometimes, I does wonder, how a bedpan make it to the top position in this organisation. Then I remember: Other bedpans voted for her.
