Dookeran setting up T & T?

In a letter to the Express today, one Shalini Khan of St Augustine claims Winston Dookeran of COP is setting up T & T for fall because he is:

consistently rejecting unity among parties opposed to the PNM and so doing, the gentleman wittingly or unwittingly displays a number of qualities:

- Arrogance of the highest order.

- Delusions of grandeur in that he feels his fledgling COP can win a seat in Parliament.

- Political naivete in that he feels he can topple either the Opposition UNC or the PNM Government.

- A deliberate, or an inadvertent desire to keep the PNM in power by splitting votes.

Winston Dookeran is therefore setting up T&T for a fall much more disastrous than that of "Humpty Dumpty."

This is obviously written by someone with a UNC agenda.

The fact is, any party or person coming close to the UNC, with Panday at the helm, has already guaranteed its own failure. Panday has tainted almost every party he touched, alienated his staunchest allies and most fervent supporters to bring 'new blood' in (where are they now, I wonder), and his own excruciating spiral into dementia has been warning enough.

The fact is, win, lose or draw, COP is all the more better off simply for avoiding Panday. To me, it doesn't reflect arrogance or ill will toward the country, but rather excellent judgement in avoiding the rot that permeated politics with Panday et al, the 'politics has a morality of its own' syndrome.

That's the first step towards integrity and a new vision 2020.
