Deal or no deal

I commented before on Panday trying to create a legacy, and so it has come to pass. He has also chosen the least tarnished member of his party to lead, but I cannot help thinking that she will be a mere puppet with him pulling the strings later on. Jack was a bad choice, what with 'tiefing' all the World Cup tickets and selling them at over-priced rates and all.

On the other hand, Pa-trick is paving the way for a massive election loss by choosing new, unknown persons rather late in the hustings. When the NAR lost election in an almost forgettable era, a deal was made where Robinson was made president, despite a clear constitutional condition that no sitting politician can be elected president unless 8 years has passed from the time of his resignation from his political party to the nomination. This was another case of political bigwigs bending the law to meet political will and convenience.

I cannot help think that Pa-trick is simply after a similar deal, and is thus ensuring his own party's political demise. After all, while Pa-trick may have pastoral and bus driving ambitions, he has demonstrated his obsession to be an executive president. A president above all....
