Money talks; and you know what walks...
Panday has sidelined the only member of his entourage who is viewed with a modicum of respect by the public, drawing a nasty backlash from the population. So why would the 'crafty' Silver Fox made such a basic (and stupid) mistake this late in the run to the election?
Well, I can't answer that with any degree of accuracy, but as one reader put it, 'there's an idiot under the red beret'.
And yet, the old Bas and Jack still has to see a problem:
On the other hand, I can't have much use for Kamla after this. To me, staying on in the UNC hoping for an after election handout (if UNC wins) is merely prostituting herself - selling her ethics, her reputation, her followers etc for some material (or should I say ministerial?) gain.
Of course, the possibility exist that she sees nothing wrong with this. This is a woman who is used to seeing Panday do this on a daily basis after all.
Pa-trick though, has cojones - big brass ones. He fires all those who are strong within the party leaving the non-threatening or emasculated ones who dare not oppose him. So now we have two parties who surely can't have a snowball's chance in hell of success... except that the internal problems may cancel out if the population fails to see the issues for what they are.
And to think, a few days ago I was complaining of a lack of bacchanal.

Warner did not think that was a good idea and he wanted to be the frontliner of the party, sources said. Warner was said to have been adamant that he should lead, as it was his money being pumped into the party. From my point of view, I'm wondering if Panday has a deal with Jack and his $$ or, alternatively Pa-trick. The question then would be - what has he to gain? Considering that he is 70+ years, and has a heart condition ..."Money talks, this is what it is turning out to be," said a source, who added that Panday has always preached he does not want the job but yet is not moving to give anyone else a chance.
Warner is the party's major financier and sources said an estimated $4 million is being shelled out from his pocket for the UNC Alliance meeting in Chaguanas tomorrow.
And yet, the old Bas and Jack still has to see a problem:
Dual leaders of the UNC Alliance, Basdeo Panday and Jack Warner, have denied that there's a fallout in the party over the leadership issue.Um, where was I on that dementia issue? Was I suggesting it's compounded by total stupidity? No indeed, I could never say that about Bas, the man who 'struggle' for the people.
